The other night my husband was away for work so after Tilia went to sleep, I decided to treat myself with a piping hot beverage that warms you to your bones.
Apple Cider is a great way to sneak some extra herbs into your body. Aromatic herbs perk up the taste while adding antioxidants and the medicinal herbs enhance the beverage with immune boosting benefits.
Spiced Herbal Cider
8oz of Local Apple Cider
1/2 cinnamon stick
1 Star Anise
1 Clove
1 small Allspice
2 Black Peppercorns
Pinch of Fennel Seeds
Pinch of Rosehips
Pinch Elderberries
Pinch of Vanilla Bean Powder or dash of Vanilla Extract
Warm all ingredients in a pan until just about simmering and let steep for at least 15 minutes or longer for a richer flavor.
